Happy Birthday, Jacie!!!

Jacie enjoyed her birthday party and got a lot of wonderful gifts. She was especially blessed to get to see some of her family that doesn't get to come by very often! She wasn't crazy about the party hat, though, as you can see!! She did get brave with her cake icing once Mama got her to take a little bite.

Jacie doing a "Jump"

Jacie stuck with the one-second underwater jump this week, since she was a little moody. Here's a little clip!

Second Swimming Lesson

Well, this week didn't go as smoothly as last week. Jacie was pretty restless last night, so I think she was tired. She's still not a big fan of floating on her back, but we'll get there!

Officially Walking

Jon and I decided last night, after a long day of me chasing her everywhere, that Jacie is officially walking! There's no slowing her down now!!! I guess we'd better start fighting the shoe-wearing battle a little harder now.

One-Year Old Pictures

We got Jacie's pictures done on Saturday, and this experience was SO much better than the last!!! Of course, Mama loved all of them, so we may need a new house with more wall space. hehe

First Swimming Lesson

Mama was anxious and excited about Jacie's first swimming lesson, and very happy that it went so smoothly!! Jacie was a great little fish and even went underwater for one second! Mama was SO proud! She wasn't a huge fan of being on her back, but we'll work on it. She really enjoyed being in the water, though, and she liked Mrs. Paloma!!! Mama didn't get to take many pictures since she was in the water with her for the lessons, but hopefully we'll get some good pictures and video next week when Daddy comes along!!

New Toy Box

Nana and Popa gave Jacie a wonderful early birthday present!! She has had a blast opening and closing the lid. Open it, put something in, close it. Open it, take the object out, close it. She also enjoys sitting on it and walking around it. It had been a blessing to us, too, since we finally have somewhere to put some of those toys!!

Don't Look Away

Jacie is getting faster and faster at getting around, and if you look away for a minute, you'd better be prepared for anything!! I was letting her roam around the living room while I cleaned up in the kitchen, and I noticed it got eerily quiet in there. I figured she had gone to the forbidden fake tree and was contemplating pulling all the twiggy stuff out of the bottom (she has often gotten in trouble for this, so now when she gets near it, you can actually see her going through a serious mental process about it often resulting in her shaking her head "no" or wagging her finger and making an "Urr-urr" sound). However, I found that she had rediscovered the Kleenex box after not seeing it in awhile!!! The picture of her smiling is what I often see any time I'm trying to check email or update this blog. She's usually trying to turn off the computer or reach the keyboard the whole time we're in here!! It brings a new challenge to computer time.

Growing Girl

We hadn't taken a picture of Jacie in the rocking chair for awhile, since she's so mobile now. That used to be the place we could prop her up easily when she was younger. Well, I got a couple of her sitting in the rocking chair today, and I couldn't believe how big she looked!!!

More Fun with Harley

Jacie continues to enjoy playing with Harley, and we continue to be thankful that she'a a good dog!!!

4th of July Weekend

Jacie had fun on her first 4th of July. She went to the Arlington parade and enjoyed roaring at the horses and clapping with the music. Later, Nana and Popa came over to cook out, watch Jacie play in the pool, and do a couple of small fireworks. Jacie was very intrigued by the fireworks until they started making noise-- then she got pretty scared, but she managed to calm down and give it a chance as long as Mama was holding her. She got to try a couple of new treats including blue Jell-o, watermelon, and Daddy's famous chicken wings!
